The assessments are carried out with a view to planning treatment in other words we don't assess something unless we have a treatment for it. You may be looking for a diagnosis and we can provide this too.

The assessments include:

  • Binocular vision analysis- essential to make sure print can be seen clearly
  • Eye movement analysis- important for reading accuracy and copying
  • Tracking analysis- essential to enable someone to keep the place when reading and copying
  • Visual stress/ Meares-Irlen syndrome analysis- assessment of benefits of coloured overlays and lenses to reduce visual discomfort and visual distortions
  • Visual perceptual skills- if underdeveloped children reverse letters and find busy pages difficult to look at or have difficulty remembering words by appearance
  • Auditory Perpeptual Assessment: if  underdeveloped it can be difficult to discriminate sounds  such as 'b' and 'd'. Difficulties may also exist with the ability to understand phonics, or blend sounds in language. Poor auditory perception and processing can also make spelling inaccurate.
  • Reading ability and style: appropriate method of learning is crucial to suit style and ability of reader
  • Spelling ability
  • Hand Writing Development
