Reading Problems
Reading problems may begin early on in a person's life or may start after an illness. They can be very distressing and can affect a person's self esteem. Children and adults may have dyslexia and find it difficult to relate the sounds of letters in speech to the written appearance of words. They may find it difficult to keep their place or to comprehend the reading material. Others may have problems with reversals of words and letters, whilst some have difficulty copying material from a book or blackboard.
Some of these difficulties are the result of eye problems and the vast majority of these can be overcome if treated by the right professional. There is no cure for dyslexia or dyspraxia etc, nor can one person sort all types of learning difficulties and reading problems but the correct use of vision can enhance educational ability significantly and make life more enjoyable for all concerned.
How do we do this?
We help improve visual (how the brain uses vision) and auditory (how the brain hears) problems associated with dyslexia, dyspraxia, migraine, autism, brain injury, cerebral palsy, neurological disorders.

Reading and writing require accurate and efficient processing of sight and sound. Some poor and struggling readers do not process sight and sound well and this stops them from becoming efficient readers. For some its like trying to bake a cake but with the wrong ingredients. We aim to improve the ingredients.

We improve how the brain processes information using eye treatments such as exercises, glasses and individual computerised training. We also help improve auditory skills which are necessary to process sounds in language using computerised training programmes.
All our treatments are painless and do not interfere with any school work, or tutoring. Each treatment will be carried out over 12 week blocks at home. Some treatments are effective immediately such as using coloured lenses, others such as vision training may take up to 8 weeks to work but we will carefully plan your treatment so that you receive the best form of care as quickly as possible.
